Yoga & Hill Walking Retreat

Join us for a weekend getaway in the beautiful Glenmalure  Valley for a weekend of Yoga and Hill Walking.  The weekend will be a sample of 3 kinds of gentle yoga practices, to relax and restore the body and soul.  We will quiet the mind and allow you to connect more deeply with your true nature of being.  Then we will bring the indoor practice outdoors, on a guided hill walk in the Glenmalure Valley along the Wicklow Way.

We will begin the weekend with an evening Candlelit  Yin Yoga practice with essential oils to relax and fully arrive.  Candlelight Yin Yoga is a deep, meditative and often profound practice. Infused in the longer, more passive holds , the yin style involves surrendering into poses and exploring them for longer periods of time in order to let go of tensions stored in the body and to calm the nervous system. Practicing this way helps to target deeper connective tissues especially around the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Candlelight Yin Yoga is a peaceful way to end your day. This practice will be lit entirely by candlelight helping us to balance our emotions, still our minds and open the deep connective tissues in the body using various yin asanas.

The next morning we will do Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga class which provides a balance of flowing movement and breath awareness with a slow and steady pace, creating a deep sense of calm and openness. Focusing on accessible poses, these classes provide a perfect way for new students to try Vinyasa yoga in a slow, supportive and welcoming environment, and for more experienced student to unwind and relax.

The afternoon will be an opportunity to go hillwalking, guided or on your own.  Maps will be provided.

On Sunday morning we will have a Traditional Ayurvedic (Tri-Dosha) Yoga session to balance your Ayurvedic doshas.  The doshas are biological energies found throughout the human body and mind. They govern all physical and mental processes and provide every living being with an individual blueprint for health and fulfillment.  This practice is a self intelligent system using a series of poses done lying down (on back and belly), focusing on the breath and relaxation to bring balance to all dosas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.  This Tri-Dosha series balances your internal state on all levels, mind, body and spirit.  It is a meditative practice done with eyes closed for a deeper ability to sense the flow of the poses.  The practice will finish with a short pranayama breathing practice to sharpen the mind and invigorate the body.

After breakfast, we will then take a group hill walk on the lovely Wicklow Way.  While walking, you can connect with nature, views and yourself.  This weekend will be a wonderful opportunity to step away from your regular routine, to relax and connect more deeply with yourself and nature.  All vegetarian meals and lodging are included.

Outline:

Friday evening: arrive, register, light meal, candlelight Yin Yoga practice lead by Kitty Maguire

Saturday Morning: Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga lead by Kitty Maguire, followed by breakfast

Saturday afternoon: Hill walking – guided or on your own (maps provided).

Saturday evening: Conscious Film screening (e.g. The Living Matrix, I Am, The Life of Yogananda, Choice Point).

Sunday: Ayurvedic Tri-Dosha Yoga session lead by Julie Williams, followed by breakfast. Guided hill walk after breakfast, with lunch on the trail. Duration and type of walk will be determined by the ability levels of those who attend.

Optional Activites:

Group Silent and Guided Meditation Sessions

Outdoor Sauna provided by Bosca Beatha (€10 per visit)

Holistic Massage available for an additional charge (€60 per hour)

KittyyogaKitty is a trained ballet dancer, fitness trainer, Pilates instructor and Yoga Teacher. She has trained in Dublin, Bali, New York, UK and Italy. Kitty’s yoga classes are of a slow flow nature with a focus on alignment, calming and slowing down the nervous system. She encourages individuality, expression and personal growth through a dynamic practice in a light and uplifting environment.  She currently teaches Ballates Bar, Yin Yoga and YogaCello classes. KittyMaguireYoga/Facebook

Julie Williams, Traditional Ayurvedic (Tri-Dosha) Yoga

JulieCroppedJan2016Julie Williams is a Holistic Therapist, Workshop Facilitator and Yoga Instructor.  She developed and practices her own natural healing method called Quantum Healing.  It incorporates her trainings in NLP (Euro-Linguistic Programming), Hellinger Family Constellation Work, Chakra Balancing, Energy Clearing, Shamanism, Neuromuscular Massage and more.  She also holds a University degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics.  Her work combines the sacred healing arts together with scientific principles to create a form of consciousness medicine.  She has also completed a 200 hr Yoga training in Traditional Tantra Yoga in India, and is currently completing her 500 hour certification. www.quantum-evolution.com

Timing: Workshop runs from Friday evening, including dinner and evening session, until Sunday late afternoon.

Lodging: Rooms are shared accommodation as double (2 person) and quad (4 person) occupancy. A few single rooms are also available on a first come first served basis. Rooms are self catering with ensuite toilet w/shower and private entrance.

Cost: € 345 Single, € 295 Double shared, € 275 Quad shared
