Mindfulness Meditation WEEKEND RESIDENTIAL
Description:
Mindfulness is the practice of moment to moment non judgemental awareness. It is a particular way of paying attention to what’s happening in our bodies, hearts and minds, and in the world around us with friendliness, interest and curiosity. Based on ancient Buddhist teachings, today the wisdom of mindfulness can be applied to enrich and enliven all aspects of our lives, and to all ages. It is the art of paying attention and engaging with our lives in meaningful, compassionate and non-judgmental ways. Its practice and training develops our innate capacity to find peace and contentment in a busy, ever changing world. It teaches how to pay attention, be more present and respond rather than react to life. In learning to live more fully in the present moment we cultivate greater attention, concentration and clarity of mind. We also develop beautiful qualities of heart such as peace, contentment and appreciation. The art of mindfulness supports us in developing both self awareness and compassion. We learn to respond rather than react to the challenges of our lives. Mindfulness is an embodied and empowering practice of reconnecting to our own innate resources and wisdom.
This weekend will draw from the teachings of western insight meditation, the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and the embodied mindful movement practice of Open floor.
Participants will be guided through formal practices of sitting, walking and movement meditation. With the support of silence, throughout the weekend you are invited to bring an attentive and friendly wakefulness to each moment of your experience, both on and off the cushion. No previous experience is required, just bring a curiosity snd willingness to taste and explore the practice. There will be opportunity throughout for questions, reflection and enquiry with Paula.
Discover techniques that will help you find greater focus, efficiency and precision in what you do. When your attention is steady, your mind is also. Learn effective relaxation and meditative practices that will support your ability to be more present, more awake. Some of the benefits of these simple practices help bring about deeper connection with others, increased enjoyment in the wonder and richness of life and a renewed openness to the spiritual dimension of life. Learn how mindfulness helps us become more aware that kindness, empathy and joy are available within our own being.
